Impact of Preparation Method and Y2O3 Content on the Properties of the YSZ Electrolyte

This study is an effort to cover and interconnect multiple aspects of the fabrication yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) from powder preparation a solid electrolyte suitable for utilization in oxide cells. Thus, series YSZ electrolytes was prepared, differing content Y2O3 dopant method preparation. Combustion synthesis along with thermal decomposition precursors used 8 18 mol.%. Post-synthesis treatment necessary achieving satisfactory quality subsequent sintering step. The morphology analyses powders sintered produced proved that small particles uniform size distribution are essential obtaining dense electrolyte. Furthermore, conductivity different contents examined temperature range 400 800 °C. lowest found sample highest content. obtained results enable methods, morphology, composition be connected mechanical electrochemical properties this links every step fabrication, which has not been sufficiently clearly described until now.
